Why the Ford Ranger Continues to Lead the Pickup Market in Europe

February 25th, 2025 by

For the past decade, Ford’s Ranger has reigned as Europe’s best-selling pickup truck, capturing a dominant 43.6% share of the market in 2024. This achievement is a testament to the Ranger’s ability to adapt to changing consumer needs, offering a versatile, reliable, and powerful solution for drivers across Europe. Ford Pro sold 60,400 Rangers in 2024, reflecting a 4% increase in sales over the previous year, with some markets experiencing growth rates of up to 18.6%.

Ford’s commitment to meeting customer demands has never been stronger, as demonstrated by the upcoming launch of the all-new Ranger PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle). This innovative model offers a 43 km electric-only driving range, 697 Nm of torque, and the ability to maintain the Ranger’s renowned towing and off-road capabilities. Designed for those who need a truck that performs in both work and leisure settings, the Ranger PHEV sets a new standard for pickups in Europe.

The Ranger PHEV is also equipped with Pro Power Onboard, allowing users to power up to 6.9 kW of equipment directly from the truck’s battery. This makes the truck the perfect choice for professionals who need reliable power on the go. Production of the Ranger PHEV is already underway, with deliveries to European customers expected in spring 2025.

As Hans Schep, General Manager of Ford Pro Europe, explains, “Ranger’s decade as Europe’s favourite pickup has been built on a deep understanding of our customers and how they use their trucks.” The Ranger PHEV represents Ford’s continued commitment to evolving the pickup truck experience, ensuring that it remains the top choice for customers seeking both performance and sustainability.
