Ford Marks Decade of Innovation with Enhanced E-Transit Tech

In a monumental milestone, Ford Transit, America’s best-selling commercial van, celebrates a decade in the U.S. market, marking its 10th year of production and sales. To commemorate this achievement, Ford Pro is introducing exciting enhancements to the E-Transit range, alongside new charging, software, and integrated solutions, solidifying its commitment to ease the transition to electric vehicles and maximize benefits for commercial customers.

Born from a collaboration between the UK and German branches of Ford, the Transit emerged in 1965, becoming a staple in Britain and extending its influence globally. A decade ago, Ford brought the phenomenon stateside, where it quickly soared to the top, becoming America’s best-selling commercial van. With over 1.2 million Transit vans assembled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri in the past decade, a staggering 99% of them are still on the road, testifying to the durability and reliability of this iconic workhorse.

Ford’s commitment to innovation led to the introduction of the E-Transit electric van in 2022, which has swiftly become America’s best-selling electric van, saving customers over 3 million gallons of gas and 25 million kg of CO2 emissions. The 2024 model year sees Ford Pro enhancing the E-Transit’s range, offering an estimated 159 miles on low-roof cargo van models with 89 kWh of usable energy—an impressive 26% increase over the previous model.

The 2024 E-Transit features faster charging capabilities, with a peak power of 176 kW, allowing a 49% increase in range after just 15 minutes on a DC fast charger. Additionally, the E-Transit can charge from zero to 100% in just six hours and 11 minutes using the Ford Pro Series 2 80A charging station—an incredible 22% faster than before. The introduction of Pro Power Onboard, providing 2.4 kW of power while in motion or charging, further enhances the E-Transit’s versatility.

Ford Pro offers a comprehensive suite of integrated charging, software, service, and financing solutions, simplifying the path to electrification for commercial customers. With 927 commercial charging depots under management, smart charging solutions, and the expansive BlueOval Charge Network, Ford Pro ensures seamless charging experiences for its customers.
