Ford BlueCruise Becomes Available in Europe
Thanks to a recent approval from the European Commission, Ford BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology is now available in fifteen European countries. More than 82,744 miles of authorized highways, or “Blue Zones,” are now accessible to drivers throughout Europe, including cross-border travel. With BlueCruise, you can now take exciting trips such as the 1,864 miles (25 hours) across six countries from Sweden to Italy completely hands free.
BlueCruise is the first system of its kind to receive regulatory clearance. It made its formal debut in the UK in 2023, and was the first advanced driver assistance system in Europe that allowed for safe, hands-free driving at highway speeds. Ford was also the first automaker in Spain to be approved for hands-free highway driving technology.
Whether they’re taking long road trips or sitting in traffic on their way to work, BlueCruise can make sure that drivers arrive at their destination with less fatigue and more energy. According to AAA, the average American spends approximately one hour every day driving. This can be demanding, and physically and mentally taxing. BlueCruise offers a cutting-edge way of reducing that strain.
Ford and Lincoln has already launched numerous electric, hybrid, and gas-powered vehicles with BlueCruise in North America this year, including the 2025 Ford Explorer and 2025 Lincoln Aviator. With the introduction of the Aviator this summer, BlueCruise will be offered on all Lincoln vehicles sold in the United States.
American drivers have attested to the fact that BlueCruise drastically improves their driving hours. F-150 Lightning owner Peter Lamarine said, “BlueCruise changed what was a completely boring, monotonous ride to something that is now enjoyable. The worst part of my day is work, and the best part is driving to and from work.”
Currently, more than 420,000 Ford and Lincoln automobiles equipped with BlueCruise are in use worldwide. In addition to over 3.1 million hours of collective BlueCruise use, customers in the US and Canada have accrued over 213 million hands-free miles, and the numbers continue to rise.
